‘Beyond the Trees’

Beyond the Trees is a subjective piece of work that explores the poetic relationship of Gabrielle’s movement and observations through the British landscape. The changing seasons show evidence of a diversity of flora and fauna, not immediately obvious, but being made visible by observations across time, captured over two seasons, on 35mm black and white film. Photography is often concerned with the impressive vistas of mountainous and coastal landscapes. Here Bourne shows an alternative perspective, charting the small changes that are often overlooked. The need to protect our British Wildlife is becoming ever more critical. The work aims to encourage viewers to give thought to their relationship and interactions with the landscape and nature.
